It’s fair to say our lives have drastically over the last 2 months and as the world reopens we will all be looking at what changes need to be made to our lives and always staying mindful of what has just happened.
I have read some very interesting articles on the Condé Nast Traveller website and love their positive attitude (links at the bottom of my post) about travelling in the future and why you should postpone rather than cancel your holiday, something that we have been asking our clients to do as we try and find a balance for the clients and owners.
So, what do we think is going to happen?
We are seeing a trend in people looking at 1 main holiday a year and have received enquiries for 2 – 4 week charters, normally people do just 1 week but we also think the price of flying is going to increase so people will travel less for longer. We also doubt that EasyJet & BA will be resuming their previous timetables once the restrictions are lifted so availability and cost will change the way we travel.
Once-in-a-lifetime holidays will become exactly that again. After isolation and confinement, we’ll all want to immerse ourselves in fresh air and wilderness. Spending time in nature is good for mental health, stress relief & physical wellness. So a week or two on the water is exactly what the doctor ordered.
We believe that crewed charter is going to become popular to people who have never chartered before, as they realise that there is safety and control onboard a yacht.
The crews on our yachts all maintain the highest cleanliness anyway and are now investing in spray sanitisers to keep the yachts even cleaner.
The crews can live a very quarantined life only leaving the yacht for provisions but in some ports can actually get them delivered so contact with the outside world can be very limited and controlled so they are rarely at risk.
The captains will create a socially distancing itinerary that keeps you out of marinas and away from the masses. All these yachts have water makers and are self sufficient so don’t need to moor up every night on the dock. You have your own dedicated chef onboard so if there are no open socially distancing restaurants open or you;’d prefer to eat onboard, your private table under the stars is always ready for you.
You’ll still be able to swim in the sea, visit the beaches and see the world from the water and with your chosen group.
A yachting holiday makes you very independent and you’ll be able to relax in this new world.
